Overview

The CDC is seeking a talented and creative Graduate Assistant to assist with maintaining and growing our social media presence. This position provides the opportunity to contribute within a dynamic, professional, student-focused office and gain valuable hands-on experience with trends and tools in online marketing. Our ideal candidate will be able to work independently with direction and have the ability to take initiative. We mentor our graduate assistants for continued professional growth and expect our graduate assistants to display the utmost responsibility, diligence, and enthusiasm.

Requirements

Education:

  • The successful candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree
  • All majors are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to candidates with a background in writing, marketing, communications, and business administration

Experience:

  • Experience writing promotional content for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Knowledge of how brands are using these platforms to connect with existing and potential customers (students)
  • Familiarity with marketing, public relations, and promotions theory/strategy

Qualities & Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely reliable and dependable
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Web design experience and/or knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment, with both full-time staff and student employees, and possibly supervise undergraduate student(s)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions and initiate new programs
  • Other desirable (but not necessary) skills might include: assisting with special events, graphic design, video editing, and other creative skills

Essential Functions

  • Write, gather/develop information for social media content (30%)
  • Schedule and distribute content regularly across all social media channels by updating, managing, and improving the CDC social media marketing plan (30%)
  • Assist in coordinating social media promotions (20%)
  • Monitor and analyze monthly performance results and deliver reports (10%)
  • Work with marketing teams to meet brand standards (10%)

Compensation

Graduate Assistantship (5 hours/week)

Duration

Academic year (August – May)
