Informal Dance Showing
Come see the Informal Dance Showing by AU students on November 21 and 22 at 6 p.m. at CD Smith III Theatre. Free Admission!The Alfred University Interdisciplinary Dance Program is an innovative leader in dance studies that fosters creative research, inquiry and imagination through the art of dance and dance making. Performances feature choreographic works by faculty, students and visiting dance artists, directors, choreographers and producers.
Over two nights, the Informal Dance Showing will include solo works from D. Chase Angier's Composition 1, a new group piece by Erin Law and a historical etude of Anna Socolow reconstructed by Law. The nights will also feature student performances from Jenise Anthony, Erin Law & Colleen Wahl’s dance courses: Fundamentals of Dance, Modern 1, African Dance, and independent choreographers. Each night will have a different line up.
Come support students of all levels and skill as they show their learning this semester and experience the challenge and excitement of performing live dance.
Alfred University's Dance program is composition based and designed to develop artistry in dance making, performance and site-specific performance. The program is open to students of all levels regardless of experience or past training and promotes excellence in dance, as well as encourages cross-disciplinary work.
Audiences will experience the many skilled roles Alfred University students take on in the process, including: choreographer, dancer, costume designer, costume builder, lighting designer and stage crew.
