Alfred University alumni featured in panel discussion on careers in healthcare
An Alfred University-hosted panel discussion of career opportunities in the healthcare industry will feature three alumni, each accomplished healthcare professionals. The Feinstein and Friedman Panel on Careers in Healthcare will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The panel discussion is an open forum for those interested in learning about the diverse careers available in healthcare, and is open to Alfred University students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public. It is co-sponsored by Alfred University alumni and classmates Dr. F. Ronald Feinstein ’67 and Lester Friedman ’67.
The three panelists—who work in a wide range of careers in the healthcare industry—include:
Mike LaCroix ’97, therapeutic sales specialist with Insmed Inc. of Anika Therapeutics, Inc., a global biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Bridgewater, NJ, with offices and research locations throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. LaCroix earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies (minor in business administration) from Alfred University.
Deborah Lee Dormady Letham ’91, principal scientist for Charles River Laboratories in Wayne, PA. Letham began her career at Charles River Laboratories in 2002 as a senior scientist in the company’s Biologics Division in Malvern, PA. She has over 20 years of experience in Charles River’s Methods Development Group, focusing on molecular biology testing for the safety of pharmaceutical products. She earned bachelor’s degrees double majoring in biology and chemistry at Alfred University and has a PhD in plant molecular biology from Cornell University.
Dr. Devin Dressman ’97, associate director, Research, Strategy, and Operations at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Hillman Cancer Center (HCC). Dressman leads a team at HCC that supports collaborative team science effort for multi-principal investigator grants and promotes external partnerships to benefit and enhance HCC-driven cancer research. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Alfred University and also has a PhD in molecular genetics and biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
The evening begins with a dinner from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the Knight Club, Powell Campus Center, with the panel discussion from 6-7:30 p.m. in Seidlin Hall 114. A dessert mixer, where students and other attendees can meet and network with panelists, will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Knight Club. Dr. F. Ronald Feinstein ’67 (B.A., biology) and Lester Friedman ’67 (B.A., English) sponsor the Feinstein and Friedman Panel on Careers in Healthcare. Feinstein, a former member of Alfred University’s Board of Trustees, is Clinical Professor of Surgery in the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California; Adjunct Professor in the Healthcare Systems Engineering Program at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. Friedman professor emeritus of media and society, and former chair of the Media and Society program at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He also taught health humanities and bioethics at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.
