Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography Kelsey Sucena opens first solo exhibition in Buffalo

Alfred University Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography Kelsey Sucena’s first solo show opens Friday, May 5, at the Buffalo Institute of Contemporary Art.

The exhibition, Paralytic States, has been curated by Sucena’s colleague, Nando Alvarez-Perez, Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography in the School of Art and Design + Performing Arts Division. Described as straddling “the space between memoir and manifesto, utilizing a queer/closeted epistemology to consider questions of community, country, and identity,” Sucena and Alvarez-Perez’s work will be displayed through May 31.

Sucena is an MFA graduate from Image Text Ithaca (2020), Managing Editor of The Photocaptionist, and a freelance writer/editor with contributions to Float Photo Magazine, Rocket Science, Aperture, and 10x10 Photobooks.
