APEX in the Nation's Capital (Political Science, Psychology, Public Law)
Knowing that AU was a small university with a strong close-knit community, Rosenyi Borquez decided to attend, and though she says it’s been a ride, she’d do it again. Interested in government reform and accountability as well as history, Rosenyi appreciated the courses AU offered. She found her major and minor through these courses, electing to study Psychology in addition to Political Science and Public Law.
Rosenyi had an opportunity to bring her knowledge and passions outside of the classroom when she was granted a congressional internship with Tom Reed in Washington DC. “My experience at this APEX internship made me surer of myself and more determined to pursue my goals,” she reflects. “I know now I want to go into politics and maybe potentially run for office.”
Back in Alfred, she serves as Vice President of the Economics club. In addition to helping coordinate annual trips to Washington DC, Roseyni enjoys discussing economic topics with her peers. After she graduates in December 2019, she hopes to move to DC and begin her career as a Legislative Staff while earning her law degree.
